June Update from the National Solidarity against Sexual Exploitation of Women

In June 2025, the National Solidarity against Sexual Exploitation of Women published its first policy paper of the year. This edition included a summary of the CATW report on the realities of legal prostitution in the Netherlands. The report reveals that following legalization, violence against women has become more normalized and increasingly covert. On June 18, a shocking media report revealed a major criminal case uncovered by police: the operator of a mobile app had collected and analyzed the personal data of four million men who had purchased sex and sold this data to over 2,500 brothel owners across the country. This case not only highlights the disturbing reality that one in five adult men in South Korea may be involved in buying sex, but also exposes the organized, nationwide scale of the system of sexual exploitation. It underscores the fact that demand from sex buyers is what sustains and expands this exploitative system.

In response, the National Solidarity against Sexual Exploitation of Women has launched a national petition demanding the thorough investigation and prosecution of the four million sex buyers and the 2,500 brothel owners involved.

We ask for your active support and participation in this effort.
