Title: National Solidarity against Sexual Exploitation of Women – September Activities Update
September is a significant month for anti-prostitution activists in Korea. Since the Anti-Prostitution Law was enforced on September 23, 2004, the “Prostitution Prevention Week” is observed from September 19th each year, during which various organizations across the country hold anti-prostitution campaigns.
This year, marking the 20th anniversary of the law’s enforcement, even more events were held. The National Solidarity against Sexual Exploitation of Women organized various activities in September, including a forum evaluating the 20 years of the law’s enforcement, a forum hosted by the survivor network Moongchi, the Dandelion Pilgrimage, and a press conference and rally urging legal amendments. As we commemorate 20 years of the law, it is now time to amend it so that women are no longer criminalized. The National Solidarity will continue to push forward with our dedicated efforts!
