In October, a tragic incident occurred in the Seongbuk-gu Hawolgok-dong red-light district in Seoul, where a woman took her own life due to threats from an illegal loan shark. The National Solidarity against Sexual Exploitation of Women mourns the loss of the victim and has urged the government to take active and fundamental measures to address the root causes of such tragedies.
From November 25 to December 10, the world observes the 'International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women' with campaigns aimed at eradicating all forms of violence against women. Activists from the affiliated institutions of the National Solidarity have been actively involved in various campaign initiatives during this period.
